As I learned from The Hindu
yesterday, BSNL, India’s biggest phone and internet services provider,
is offering free dial up internet access for all its landline customers
till the end of October 2008. Any BSNL landline user can get access to
the free dial up connection from BSNL by using the following
credentials, after connecting his telephone line to the computer:

Username: Your STD Code excluding the zero and your
phone number. For example, if your STD Code is 0461 and your phone
number is 123456789, you should type 461123456789 in the Username box.

Password: Your Phone Number. Example: 123456789

Dial: 172222

Of course, you can get speeds of about 56kbps only. But free is
good, isn’t it? Spread the message to everyone you know, because only a
few thousand users have signed up since they launched this free dialup
service
